PASHMINA FASHION SHOW HELD UNDER PFDT COURSE
A fashion show titled “Pashmina Enhancement: Generation towards Global Trend” was organized by the college on July 15, 2017 at Moksha Live Restaurant and Bar, Jhamsikhel.
The show was held under the college’s Pashmina Fashion Design and Technology (PFDT) course run under the framework of Pashmina Enhancement and Trade Support (PETS) project.
The PETS Project is sponsored by the Government of Nepal (GoN) and is funded under the multi-donor financed Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The main executing agency of the Project is the Ministry of Commerce (MoC). The Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA) is the private sector partner of the Project. The main project implementing entity is the International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva.
The main objective of the training course is to strengthen the Chyangra Pashmina (CP) sector of Nepal through training of future CP fashion designers as well as expand the college’s design course offerings. Indirectly, it also contributes in the promotion of CP products and trademark in national and international market through close collaborations with NPIA and CP enterprises.
The products displayed in the fashion show were developed by the first and second batch students of the Pashmina Fashion Design and Technology course in close collaboration with NPIA and after internships in its member enterprises. A booth showcasing products (merchandise) of NPIA member enterprises where students of the course interned was also on display at the show.
Four sequences were presented during the show: Queen of Woolen Fibers, Glimpse of Soft Gold, Beauty and the Beast (Black and White) and Warmth of the Himalayas.
The audience included government officials as well as officials and members of Nepal Pashmina Industries Association. Other stakeholders associated with the project and the course were also present.
A Certificate of Appreciation was presented by Mr. Ravi Shankar Sainju (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce) to the twelve member enterprises of NPIA who provided a one month internship to students of the course.
The syllabus makers and instructors of the course were presented a Certificate of Appreciation by Ms. Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal, NCFT). A Certificate of Completion was awarded to thirty three students of the course by Mr. Durga Bikram Thapa (President, Nepal Pashmina Industries Association).
Likewise, Mr. Buddhi Prasad Upadhyaya (Under Secretary, Ministry of Commerce) and Mr. Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO, NCFT) presented Certificates of Appreciation to the hair/makeup artists, models, emcee and choreographer of the show.
The results of a Pashmina Sketch Competition organized by the college for students of the course were also announced during the show. Sanu Namaya was adjudged the Winner of the competition while Anita Khati and Nirmala Malbul were the first and second runners – up respectively.
The choreographer for the show was Mr. Rojin Shakya (Faculty, NCFT) and the emcee was Ms. Nisha Pathak.
